Pushing Forward and Onward

In my life outside of the dojo I have been adding a little more than I used to expect of myself, a little more than I feel life may expect of me. I no longer want to just live on bare minimums but am pushing myself to go past the level of anything that I feel I have to accomplish. The enrichment from my training is of an immense wonder in my goals and endeavors, not only while in the dojo but throughout my life.

There are times when I may get nervous or afraid that the outcome of an event will not be as I had wished. But in Chapter III of "Building Warrior Spirit" Hanshi Scaglione writes, "It's okay to be afraid or nervous, whatever label you wish to use to describe the emotion. But you could label it spirit or guts and get it to work for you. Do not allow it to drain you or drag you down. Have it pick you up and pump you up." Yes, I have been focusing on this and feel a different sense of vigor and strength that goes to the core of understanding how all of this relates to one's physical, emotional and spiritual values.

We read about the lives of the past Masters and it is very encouraging and exemplary. But, it is actually seeing that beauty of all the past masters in the faces of Hanshi, Kyoshi, all of the Sensei, Sempai and Deshi that truly serves as an example of all we should daily and continuously strive for.
