Demonstrating Kata

Onegai Shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Sensei, Sempai, and fellow Deshi-

Happy Holidays to everyone throughout Shorin Ryu Karate USA and to their families . Let’s continue to train with purpose throughout the holiday season and the rest of the winter.

Question 9 under the Kata section of the “Red Book” asks, “What is the most important thing when demonstrating kata?” (pg. 23)

On page 25 the question is answered; “Showing power and focus.”

If you ever had the pleasure of watching Sensei Garcia demonstrate Kata he was an excellent example of this concept. Let’s all take after Sensei Garcia and Master Ueshiro before him and show full speed, power, and focus when demonstrating Kata.
