"When you come to a fork in the road, take it."” – Yogi Berra

Yogi Berra’s inimitable blend of metaphor and Zen admonishes us to accept our power of choice, especially when faced with pivotal events: fight/flight, buy/sell, "I do"/"I don’t." It calls for a positive approach to difficult decisions: a clear appraisal of the options followed by a confident first step as the journey of 1,000 miles begins anew.

The thought merges the "moving forward" and "just do it" philosophies of our system, implying that either road is preferable to idling in indecision, sliding backwards, or abandoning the quest. Whether the path is one of least resistance or the one less traveled, we learn to respect the choice not taken as a possible way for others.

Next time you come to a fork in the road set off without regret, eyes on the future, fully aware the two paths may someday meet again.
