Corkscrew Hips
We tend to place emphasis on a twisting hip action when we punch or block. It is often helpful to visualize and work toward a corkscrew motion, where in addition to twisting, there is a motion downward, into and through the deck. This contributes to the rootedness of the entire body, and facilitates tension at the moment of impact. Even with the headblock, we can work toward and reap the benefits of the corkscrew hips idea.
