FIFTY YEARS

On September 14, 1962, a young, 29 year-old Ansei Ueshiro took the first step of a journey that would change the lives of thousands of people, including mine, and yours. FIFTY YEARS AGO, on a long trip from Okinawa, Master Ueshiro brought a precious gift to share with us all, a living art, the art of Karate-do.

Imagine for a moment that this was YOU taking that huge step - packing up your life, leaving your family and friends, moving to another country on the other side of the world, uncertain of what would happen next. Try to feel how he must have felt - adventurous, anxious, excited, happy, and very, very alive. Master Ueshiro took this journey for me, for you, for all of us, so that we could share in the wonder and strength that is Karate.
