Shorin-Ryu Karate U.S.A.
Thought For The Week
"Efficiency"
By David Baker, Denshi/Shihan -
Midtown Karate Dojo
Shorin-ryu techniques are inherently efficient. Done correctly, there is no
wasted motion. Most techniques require that the limb moves from "Point A" to
"Point B" in a straight line. The foot does not circle on the floor as in
Goju-ryu nor does the hand circle in the air as in Gong-fu.
Technique mistakes are primarily a result of added, wasteful motion and tension.
Life lived well is also done efficiently without added, wasteful motion and tension.
