Chishi
Training (Utilizing Dojo Strengthening Tools)
Below is the exact wording taken from page 88 of the building
Warrior Spirit (Green) book. It's important to understand
and dig deep into the intricacies of working with the Chishi.
By doing so, you gain another tool in your arsenal to further
build your karate strength and training.
Building Warrior Spirit (Green Book) page 88
"During all Chishi training, always breath naturally----three
part type breathing. Tense and relax wrist area, tense and
relax shoulder group muscles, keep shoulders down and back
and hyper-extend the elbow when applicable during full extensions.
This Strengthens the three parts of the arm: wrist, elbow,
and shoulder, all important punching principal areas. Follow
each training session with snap punches and stretching."
This week, Grab a Chishi, grab a group of fellow students,
and work the series of movements found in the following
pages.
Building Warrior Spirit (Green Book) pages 87-88
Hear each other breathe, talk about the proper techniques,
use the time to correct mistakes in movements, and understand
modified grips by choking the handle. Remember.....In the
end, the proper training of the Chishi "packs a big
punch."
