Training Benefits
I dont approach teaching karate the same way that I did 25 years ago. It seems we practice karate now for its mental and health benefits, for its social and community benefits and for its connection to history and how much daily life has changed. We embrace the philosophy of the art in many many ways, none of which include fight to the death battle.
This is not to say that we should ever loose sight of our base "martial application if and when we discover it.
We train year after year practicing and perfecting our kihon techniques and incorporating them into our kata. We learn and relearn the same things and see them a little differently each day, each year. We adjust our bodies and minds in the pursuit of Mushin.
With a firm grasp on our movement we can enter a "State of Mushin" through our training and through our kata.
