Keep It Simple
The thought/technique
for this week (TFTW) is the "Keep it Simple
(KIS)" principle.
If you need
to defend yourself and/or your loved ones, then just do it
with the simplest and most effective one-strike-knockout combinations
that you have been practicing at the dojo for thousands of
repetitions. There is no need to use fancy combinations. Simply
use
the no-mind (no thought) instinctive movements you have been
programming your motor skills to do through the many repetitions
of
your kata and yakusoku-kumite.
For example,
the first combination in F3 involves an effective warrior
stance with an effective low block (which is also a strike)
followed
by an effective mid-level reverse punch. This simple combination
should devastate your opponent.
Take any
combination from your basic kata and make it work in bunkai
exercises and one step kumite exercises described in previous
TFTW.
Our most basic kata and yakusoku kumite already contain these
devastating simple combinations that will protect you and knockout
your opponent.
Use the
KIS principle to knock out your opponent and finish the fight
right away with one combination ... and don't forget to step
first!
Keep training.
