Technique of the Week (March 27th 2011)

Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Sensei and Fellow Deshi,

Our techniques are characterized by straight movements. Key examplesof this are in our stepping and punching.
We do both directly from point A to point B (the pocket and the target, for the punch). We do not add extra movement.
Common errors in this regard with respect to punching are to drop the fist out of the pocket before punching or to raise
the fist in flight to the target (and then bring it down at the end). Both of these errors take precious time while diminishing
crucial power.

We need to keep our techniques straight and direct.
