Thought for the week
Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Sensei, Sempai and Fellow Deshi,
With the arrival
of the New Year, it is common to make resolutions. We
should make resolutions/set goals for our karate. The goal might
be being
ready to test for a new rank, improving our grasp of a kata or implementing
a correction that we havent been able to yet. These goals
help us most as
extra inspiration to improve and increase our training. New rank,
should
not be mistaken for an end in itself. Karate-do (the way of karate)
does
not end with a new rank. Karate-do has no such end. It is, in Master
Nagamine's words, a "life-long marathon." We can continue
on the way of
karate all our lives, as long as we keep training. We can use goals
to
inspire us to keep moving forward on that journey.
Happy and healthy 2007 to all.
Domo arigato
gozaimasu to all,
Emiliano Mazlen
