"F3"

The techniques of kata F3, one of the"gifts" from Hanshi Ansei Ueshiro. An in depth study of this kata reveals many unique fighting skills. Bunkai of this kata hones in and even further demonstrates the potential of the techniques of F3. Pages 32 & 33 of the "Red Book" clearly describe the kata in photos and detailed written description. See the book for details and reference photos. A flaw in the photos, explained by Mackay Sensei in the 35th Journal, is found in fig.4 and 5. The camera missed the completed low block which is more accurately shown in fig.2A and fig.14. Simply stated one must lock out the blocking arm when executing the down block. Also the extended kick is omitted fig.5c (not shown) for the same reason, the camera missed it, we did not have a photo.

All the principals of the last three Technique Bulletins apply to this kata F 3, especially in regard to maintaining correct height of the postures throughout and in the principals of "combination" multiple techniques.
