Repetition

Repetition- the key is repetition. Repeat the moves, one at a time, in the performance of Kata. At first it takes a lot of thought to execute even simple techniques. After many repetitions the body moves by rote without as much thought and we are able to refine the movements. At this point it is crucial to hone the move, to NOT repeat the mistakes, only repeat the corrected move. The process of beginning and evolving continues throughout our training. We consistently improve on the techniques repeating the corrected moves and dropping the unpolished moves. It is impossible to do perfected moves from day one without going through and perfecting the moves through repetitions and "mistakes". A great teacher said,"It takes 10.000 mistakes on the road to perfection, the sooner we make the mistakes the sooner we become "perfect" or fluent (free of mistakes)". This is accomplished through REPETITION. Arigato, Kyoshi Robert Scaglione.
